Dr. Rubin is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Before joining the faculty, he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at New York Medical College and served as a Disaster Medicine Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Additionally, he has completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography.
Dr. Rubin's interests within emergency medicine are diverse. He actively lectures and consults on disaster preparedness and teaches point-of-care ultrasound across all levels of medical training. His academic interest in multimodal analgesia has led him to become an acute pain specialist within the ED setting.
With a strong passion for pain management, Dr. Rubin advocates for a multimodal approach to effective and safe pain relief. He promotes the use of ultrasound guidance for interventional pain management, aiming to minimize opioid reliance.
Currently, Dr. Rubin holds the position of Emergency Medicine Clinical Fellowship Director at the University of Ottawa and chairs the Emergency Medicine Pain Management Committee. He is dedicated to exploring innovative methods to provide effective analgesia while reducing the risks associated with opioid use.
